Canon Powershot SX10 IS

The Canon Powershot SX10 IS is equipped with 10 megapixels of resolution along with a superior 20x Optical Zoom lens. The zoom is powerful enough to photograph distant sites and individuals without having to haul around a group of heavy lenses. While it’s always best to ask permission before shooting a photograph of a local, its possible to use this function to snap shots of intriguing figures without causing too much of a stir.

Though its slightly bigger than it’s predecessors, the new model remains the perfect size to carry along on your trips around the world. With that increased size comes the previously mentioned increase in zoom and a 2.5 inch Vari-angle LCD for flexible viewing.

Two other unique features that separates this camera from many of its competitors are the ability to capture high-resolution images while recording movies and the color accent mode (see below).

  1. I used to have this camera (or a previous version of it) and it is the best little camera. A great choice if you’re looking for something a little more advanced than a small point-and-shoot but aren’t quite ready to go into the DSLR arena.

Agreed. I find the zoom unreal for this type of camera.

    Hi Gennaro,

The photo above looks great! If you took this photo with a Canon Powershot, this just proves that artistry is in the photographer, no matter what kind of camera –point-and-shoot, entry-level or pro dslr.

Thanks. Technology helps a lot, but their is still a craft to shooting photos, for sure.

  5. I know this is a very amateur camera but I have a 5mp Kodak EasyShare DX759 and it has 10x optical zoom. It’s a few years old and I was going to upgrade it a while back but it seems that 10x zoom is hard to come by in that price range. The one I wanted was smaller but only had 3X zoom so I passed on it. I had no idea that 20x optical zoom was available on a camera under $300. That’s pretty cool.

I was just glad to come across it. Didn’t want to break the bank for a camera, but I wanted solid photos with plenty of zoom for travel scenery for the site and personal use. This does the trick.

so cool. i still have my canon powershot S3 IS (so yesterday, i know. lol) even after getting a dslr, because like what you said, you can zoom in without causing a stir. :)

It’s definitetly a nice camera to have. Does a lot without being to big or being on the level of a DSLR.
