Another place for your list:

In Chiang Mai Thailand one of the major temples (Wat Chediluang) does this thing called “Monk Chat” where monks come out twice a day and sit at tables in groups. Anyone can go up to them and ask any question they want. It is really interesting, actually.

I befriended a group of Tibetan monks several years ago in Palm Springs. We hosted them at a B&B where I worked, they stayed with host families, built a mandala, and then did the mandala peace ceremony.

I lived with my Buddhist grandmother, and I remember when she used to take me to the temples in the Philippines (I lived in Manila) to meet some “monks” (not sure if they were the real thing). But my grandmother always made sure I “chanted” some prayers with her and lit incense and made offerings to the gods.

I met a few monks in Thailand. Very friendly. One of the best experiences of my life. Check out Bangkok’s Buddhist Wats.

I’d love to meet a Buddhist monk. Sounds like a very cool experience. I’ve been read a book by the Dalai Lama and it has peeked my interest. I didn’t realize Laos was such a cool place. Rarely hear about it.
